About Me

My photo
Denis Farrell
Denis Farrell began his studies in Fine Art at Limerick School of Art and Design and quickly gained a reputation as a promising painter, had exhibitions nationally and was picked up by Taylor Galleries Dublin: one of Ireland’s foremost contemporary art galleries. In 1989 Farrell earned a Fulbright scholarship to attend The New York Studio School. On Full Scholarship, Farrell went on to Yale University School of Art where he received his MFA in 1993. From 1994-99 exhibited extensively throughout the US. In 1997 Farrell founded Bingo Hall in NYC, a contemporary art space to exhibit the work of a diverse group of international artists not represented by the commercial gallery system, opened by Nan Annan, wife of Kofi Annan former Secretary General of the UN. In 1999 Farrell returned to Ireland. His first museum show was at Limerick City Gallery of Art in 2003, also at The Dock, Leitrim in 2009. In 2005 he exhibited at the Irish Art Center in New York accompanied by a catalog essay by award winning American critic Robert C. Morgan. Farrell now divides his time between Aubepierre-sur-Aube in France and his studio in Co. Clare, Ireland.
